The reality was that my husband also had a business, so he would quite often be leaving very early in the morning.
So our kids will be getting up on their own.
They will be getting themselves ready for school on their own.
And the cafe was literally only 200 meters around the corner from our home.
So the kids knew that to come in and get a hot chocolate and say good morning to mom before they went off to school.
And yeah, it was, look, I was very, very proud mom.
I was very proud to give my kids that opportunity.
But at the same time, there was always that mom girl, there was always that pool that was that, you know, I couldn't always be there for all of their events, all of their things that they had going on.
And that was the reality of having a bricks and mortar business.
We are moms, we are bosses, and we're living abroad.
And in this brand new season of this exciting podcast, we are boosting the woman to woman connection through deep intimate conversations to pause, reflect, and go beyond the skein deep.
And we are here to celebrate your unique journey.
No matter how old your business or your babies or where you are in the world, you are not alone.
It's time to go deeper, understand better, and lean into more harmony and fun along the way.
We are Desiree and Iva, and this is Mom Bosses Abroad.
Hi, and welcome to a new episode of the Mom Bosses Abroad podcast.
I am Iva Perez, and as always, I'm here with my business bestie and podcast co-host, Desiree Gonzalez.
And running a business is often sold as freedom.
But for those in the know, those who've probably tried it or are in the middle of building something of their own, it probably is a different story.
Perhaps you're in the mists of scaling and you've quickly realized that that just means more stress, more costs, less of your life.
And so in today's episode, we want to bring something that feels a little bit like a breath of fresh air, because we are bringing on someone who knows this firsthand.
She built a brick and mortar cafe in Australia.
She put in the years, the hours, the money, and unfortunately hit that wall of burnout.
But now she's showing women what's possible when you pivot into a business model that actually grows with you instead of draining you.
We're talking about redefining success after the kids are grown, trading linear income for leveraged wealth, and why this moment in wellness and digital business is such a massive opportunity.
So buckle up because this conversation is going to shift how you see what's possible for your next chapter.
So this is for every woman who's ever thought scaling a business only means scaling the stress.
Welcome Angie Shiels to our podcast.
Wow.
Thank you for that beautiful introduction, Iva.
And I'm so blessed to be here on this podcast with you both.
Yeah.
What I'm always so grateful for is that we and our community just get to meet such amazing women all the time.
And that's why even Angie now, when we first met, I was like, Oh my God, this is awesome because you have yet another story to tell.
But before we dive in, I do want to introduce you a little bit further because your story really is very special.
So Angie ran her own cafe for 12 years, believing this would be her path to freedom from working for someone else.
But instead, it really did leave her burned out and asking, is this really it?
So in the lead up to turning 50, she sold the cafe and realized it was time to now reclaim her health and create financial independence and finally design that life on her own terms.
A chance meeting over coffee actually introduced her to the world of affiliate marketing, and she's never looked back.
She has spent the past six months living in Bali, and thanks to her online business, she continues to mentor small business owners, entrepreneurs, and women in corporate careers who feel really stuck and exhausted.
So Angie helps them move beyond that burnout into leveraged income, legacy wealth, and a lifestyle of health, freedom, and purpose.
So beyond business, Angie is a wife, a proud mom to three adult kids, and this year she stepped into her favorite, favorite role yet because she became a lala to her first grandchild.
Angie, it's such a pleasure getting to know you in this space.
Oh, that's beautiful.
Thank you.
It's been an absolute honor to meet you both.
And yeah, as you said, share our stories and learn more about the incredible vehicle that has brought us all together.
And it enabled us, women from all stages and ages in lives and all walks of life in all areas of the world.
It's just been fantastic to have these meetings and encounters.
Yeah.
So tell us, Angie, we want to ask you really about the actual cost of hustle, right?
What does traditional business ownership like you, you ran this cafe for 12 years, what does that really look like in terms of money, time and stress?
Look, owning a cafe was my dream growing up and it was always my thing.
Every time we went to a cafe, I was always critiquing, always thinking, always had the ideas.
And one day that opportunity became available to me.
There was a space that came up for lease near where we lived.
And I just knew, I knew this was the time, I knew this was the moment.
Our children were under 10 at that stage.
And I just felt like this was the right time in my life to do something for myself, because I just always had that calling to do something for myself, to create that freedom lifestyle, not to have to work for an employer.
So we dived right in.
We did the first, it was a clothing store that we had to convert to a cafe.
So tens of thousands of dollars later, we did a fit out on a shoe string.
Shoe string was still at that 40 or $50,000.
That was the bare minimum.
That was a shoe string budget, compared to most cafes when they get started.
But we created something special and the community that we brought together over those years were just very thankful for what we had created.
They loved the sense of community.
They loved having that meeting place.
My staff, I had an incredible team of staff.
I had up to 20 staff at one stage.
And we created something magical.
Coffee was our thing.
We knew what it took to make a good coffee.
We always enjoyed good coffee.
We had beautiful, fresh produce for our products.
Everything was freshly made.
We absolutely did it all.
And after 10 years, we did another fit out, which was $150,000 because after 10 years, your cafe looked tired and we knew we had to reinvest in the cafe.
But during that time, costs had gone up significantly.
And throughout that period of owning the cafe, I loved everything about it.
I loved the community.
I loved that sense of staff, a sense of ownership and of all of that.
But oh my goodness, there was so much work involved in it.
And it literally was my life 24-7, getting text messages at 3 a.m.
in the morning from staff saying, I'm sick.
I can't come into work.
And that was the day that I had off and had planned some appointments or to do something for myself.
And that just meant that at 3 a.m., you can't be starting to call all your staff to try and get someone to cover.
So that was me getting up in an hour to head off to work.
So and it was always anytime we tried to go on a holiday or a break, something would happen.
But it was so it as much as I loved it, it was my baby, I could never escape it.
And you have to wear all the hats and working everything out and understanding the taxation laws and the superannuation and all the policies and procedures and work covers and insurances and making sure that your workplace health and safety and your OH&S and all those different aspects you are liable for at the end of the day, if something happens, they will come for you.
And that reality hit hard and was very overwhelming at times.
And when we'd had some good months and some not so good months, to try and maintain everything and to keep, I literally had all these costs that I had to spend the money on, rent, insurances, bin pickups, wages, everything to keep the doors of the cafe open was just a huge weight to bear.
And got a little bit scary at times because you've got a lot of people that you're responsible for, all your staff.
As I said, they've got their own responsibilities, rent, car payments, lifestyle, customers who are relying on you to have the doors open, to come in and get their coffee.
People love their coffee, right?
It's very important and they like routine.
But yeah, look, especially, I would say COVID was a huge challenge.
And from there, costs just went up incredibly, like really started to escalate.
And I've spoken about it a few times, in the last year of trading, my electricity bill alone was $18,000.
You think about how many coffees do you need to make to pay just that?
To pay for your coffee machine to actually run, right?
Correct.
Correct.
Yeah, to keep the lights on, literally.
And it was only a small space.
Let me tell you, it was only a small cafe, but you still got all of those costs, right, which are elevated.
And your stock, the profit margins became less and less because how much can you keep passing on these rising costs that you've got to your customers in terms of putting up the price of the coffee, putting up the prices of the sandwiches, you know, there's a point, right?
So it just meant that my profit margin was getting less and less from all of that.
And the other thing I will say in the midst of all of that is I wanted to expand and I knew I had a great product.
I knew I had a great model and I wanted to duplicate that.
But duplicating that, and we almost signed a lease for another premises, three separate, three other premises, three times.
We almost went there and opened a second cafe because that's success, right?
You've got a show, you've got multiple.
But what did that actually mean in terms of me already being stretched with one cafe and then multiplying that with not only another fit out, but finding more staff, relying on those staff, covering all those costs, finding a customer base.
It was very scary.
Hence why I pulled back each time and just said, I can't do this.
And not to mention the personal cost, the personal cost on my time, which meant that I'd have less time with my family, which was already stretched.
I was going to say, they had three kids to raise at that same time as well, right?
I will say they loved it.
They loved having their mom that owned the cafe.
Do you know why?
Because it meant they got free stuff.
All right.
Okay.
There was an element of mom guilt, right?
They knew that they could come in any day, time of day, and they could get free hot chocolate or bring their friends in to get a donut, or they took advantage.
They knew how to work the system.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
So they loved it.
But yeah, the reality was that my husband also had a business.
So he would quite often be leaving very early in the morning.
So our kids would be getting up on their own.
They would be getting themselves ready for school on their own.
And the cafe was literally only 200 meters around the corner from our home.
So the kids knew that to come in and get a hot chocolate and say good morning to mom before they went off to school.
And yeah, it was, look, I was very, very proud mom.
I was very proud to give my kids that opportunity.
But at the same time, there was always that mom guilt.
There was always that pull that was that, you know, I couldn't always be there for all of their events, all of their things that they had going on.
And that was the reality of having a bricks and mortar business.
Oh, yes, I'm always looking in how I can support and upgrade my toxic free lifestyle.
And lately, I was thinking that until now, I failed to look at the most basic necessity we rely on every day, the water we drink.
Water is our most valuable natural resource, and it's vital to nourish and hydrate our body that is made of 70% water.
But whilst a water may appear the same, not all water is created equal.
So finally, I have found one machine that can filter and restructure regular tap water into five types with over 60 uses.
From electrolyzed reduced water rich in hydrogen and antioxidants for drinking, to highly alkalized and oxidized waters, replacing toxic cleaners and personal products in your home.
It's from Japan and you know, I love and trust all things made here.
I feel so good that my kids get to drink this straight from the tap.
Do you want to feel this good too?
Well, I put everything in an e-booklet for you.
Grab it today by visiting oilyessentialsfamily.com/water.
And Angie, the story that you tell, it's so powerful because there's so many elements in it.
This is something that, as you said, was your dream since day one.
Like you always had that desire.
And I hear in your voice the immense pride that you have in having had that experience as well, right?
Would it be safe to assume that you don't have any major regrets about going down that path to then later pivot and realize, hey, there's a moment where probably every ounce of excitement and pride and know-how, skill sets, expertise, wisdom that I gained from it reached its natural culmination.
And then you came to a point where you said, hey, I can't keep doing this.
What else is there for me?
Do you feel that that was like a natural progression or was it more of a line in the sand, like, look, this is it.
This is where it ends.
How do you feel that shift came about for you from coming from this passion project, passion business for such a long time?
Well, it was a big part of my identity.
I had grown and created an identity along with that cafe.
And there was an immense amount of pride.
And for myself, for having achieved something like this, and so I don't have any regrets at all from having the cafe.
It was absolutely incredible times.
There's so many incredible people I met.
A lot of famous people came in the cafe.
We had a lot of parties after that.
We utilized that space like you would not believe for our own personal fun.
So you can write a book pretty much.
Just on the cafe.
I always said, this has got to go in the book.
Honestly, I could write a book about cafe life, the people that you meet, the experiences that you have.
It was, we had it all.
I really feel, I called it a social experiment.
I really learned to understand people and have a lot of respect for people.
Everyone's got so much going on in their world.
That's a whole other story.
And yes, I could definitely write a book.
But I learned so much from that.
I learned how much of a strong person I am.
I learned how many, a lot of incredible skills that I achieved a lot of things that I never thought I could do.
So for my own personal self, it was a huge learning curve, a huge growth period in my life.
And I just felt, if I'm honest, I was ready to sell the cafe at year 10.
And again, it was coming out of that COVID, a couple of years out of COVID.
And it just, it took a while to build the business back up, to be able to get it to a point where I could sell it, to regain some of the costs that I had put in, but also to feel like it was something of worth for me to sell at the end.
So I held on for a couple of extra years.
And I will say in that time, I very much started to have those questions going, is this really it?
Is this, I think I'm done, but that fear of, as I said, this is my identity.
I have built myself around this.
What does life look like after this?
And heading towards 50, I really had this calling.
As my children were now teenagers and moving out of home, I was very blessed my kids decided all to move out of home in their late teens.
What was life going to look like for me next, in this next stage?
I had this innate calling to come back to myself.
I wanted to rediscover myself again, find something that gave me that life force.
I felt I had lost all my life force and I was just literally going through the motions of life.
And obviously your body is going through changes as well, and your hormones, and everything just started to really escalate for me.
And I thought, I was very lucky in the end, and my manager of the cafe who had been with me for over five years, she bought the cafe.
And that was a beautiful.
Wow, that's awesome.
It was in good hands.
Yeah, it was.
You knew that you were giving your baby to someone that had been there.
Correct.
Correct.
And that was also very important to me.
That was also very important to me that I passed on this legacy to the next person.
So I was very happy that she bought it.
Yeah, it lived on and also made a very easy handover.
Yeah, you don't have to explain much, right?
Yeah.
Exactly.
But I have to say at the end of it, I literally, as soon as the transaction happened, I would say I fell in a heap.
And I had adrenal fatigue, I was completely burnt out, I was feeling lost, lack of energy, lack of everything.
And also very confused as to what's next, what's going to happen.
And it took me a while.
And I was very fortunate enough, I could give myself that time to start to work on my health, start to work on my mental health, and start to rebuild myself.
And throughout that, and along that journey, I always talk about this, it was a very, I'm very much about the universe presents you opportunities.
And I remember very clearly my sister-in-law saying to me one day, I'm going to go and have a coffee with a friend.
And she does something in the online space, I don't know what it is, but I'm going to go and have a coffee with her because I'm curious.
She seems to be doing all right with it.
And I just had this thought in my mind, and I was just like, I'd love to come along for a coffee too.
I don't know, I hadn't met this friend before, but just something inside of me was like, I need to join them for this coffee date.
And I just want to say in the lead up to this, I had been starting to explore what was my life going to look like next?
Was I going to open another cafe?
Because that's, you naturally get drawn to that, right?
When it's something that you've done and I had the model, I had the vision and everyone sort of assumed that I would.
Deep down, I didn't know if I had the energy for that.
I'd started applying for jobs, going for job interviews.
That was a very weird space to be in after 15 odd years of working for myself.
I started following some of my hobbies and exploring, do I want to become like I love flowers, so I did some floristry courses, I love pottery, so I did some pottery courses.
Just trying to really explore and understand all of these different elements of myself and starting to get back in touch with myself.
And anyway, and this coffee date came up and met at a cafe just outside of Byron Bay, and my sister-in-law Tamara and her very good friend, Steph, we sat down and as soon as Steph started talking about this business opportunity and what she's doing with herself and how it's transformed, she's come from a corporate career and stepped into this online space and the products and the compensation plan and every element.
I just sat there and I just had this moment of, this is it.
I have no idea what this really entails, but something is telling me, this is it.
And it ticked so many boxes for me.
I knew that coming into my midlife, health was of super importance.
The products that we have that she spoke about and the products that I now use are absolutely been incredible for elevating my health.
I no longer have the brain fog, the 3 p.m.
energy lack, having to have a lie down.
I just power through the day.
I feel healthier.
I feel hydrated.
I just have so many elements of my health that have been improved from these products.
I love the sense of community.
I didn't know that was something that I needed until I started connecting with other people.
As a small business owner, it's very isolating.
It's very much you feel alone in the small business space, having the cafe because no one wants to talk to you because no other cafe owners want to talk to you because you're a threat.
You might steal their favorite recipe for their ribbon sandwich.
I'm competition.
Mind you, lots of people stole lots of things from me, but that's all good.
You know it's yours, right?
Yeah, exactly.
But that sense of community and, Steph, just the way she spoke about this business model, I just thought, yeah, I need to give this a try.
And as I said, stepping into this space, it's been a totally new world for me, but it's absolutely just changed everything for me.
I love this.
I love the story.
And because I see myself also a little bit in that, right?
From coming from the hotel industry.
And I know it's like the doors never close, right?
The business never shuts.
It's just always, always, always.
And you're so reliant on people.
People is what makes up the business.
But also the staffing and all of that.
The only difference is really I was an employee.
It was never my own.
So I cannot even imagine that extra layer, big layer of stress because it is your own.
It is your, you know, you have certain responsibilities, even when you're leading a team within a hotel.
But at the end, it's still, it's still not yours, right?
So it's, wow, like I can, I can really imagine that also that emotional toll of being so successful, but you're not free.
You're not free in doing what you want to do or where you want to go or having that type of, we always say this freedom lifestyle, but what does that really mean to us?
Right?
First of all, yes, it means financial freedom.
That's what a lot of people associated with straight away.
Then it's that location freedom that you can be anywhere you want to be, which in that case is not, but a lot of people are happy to be in their environment and their space.
But it's really that time freedom, isn't it?
That I put such high value on now, especially, I mean, for all moms here, we're all like being with us and self-loving is such a big part of what we do.
And when we don't have time for any of that, that's where things shift and not to the better.
So I think that your pivot is very smart and it's very well deserved, of course.
And I love that you've had like that journey of discovery.
What is it that I want to do?
And a lot of people do that.
They turn their passion into their business, right?
I've done that too.
But it's also about, yes, you got to do that.
But a big part of us, we are entrepreneurs, we are proud women, we do have a business acumen.
We want to earn money.
We want to earn good money alongside doing what we're extremely passionate about.
And that is not an easy combination to find.
So having found this, that the bird all comes together in the space, like you said, the health, the community, and that wealth element is just incredible.
So I like what for you is like the biggest sort of that, that contrast or also the way where you said, okay, I'm done with this linear business.
I want to get into something that is a lot more leveraged and is a wellness business, like what has been the biggest shift for you in that?
Well, a funny story is as soon as everything was said and done with the cafe, and after I'd had that coffee meeting with Steph and I jumped into investing into the business, I literally jumped on a plane and went traveling with my husband for three months to experience freedom after 12 years.
Cool.
I love it.
It was so well needed, so well earned.
And it was towards the end of that time with the cafe, there was just this mental, there's this pool that, you know, I was just really wanting to get out there and have some freedom and explore and some time and have some routine in my life that, yeah, literally as soon as it was done, just jumped on that plane and off we went.
So that was that was absolute best.
What and well, basically, I haven't stopped.
If I'm honest, I haven't stopped the whole travel.
So that was that was towards the middle of last year.
And then we moved, we actually moved out of our, we had sold our business, sold our house, sold up everything basically, that was down in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.
And we'd bought a caravan and we'd headed up to the Byron Bay area where our family is.
But we basically then lived in our caravan and traveled.
We went to Tasmania.
We went, we did lots of lots of trips.
And just to really, I think that that was just that calling from me internally, just to have some freedom and some time and some space to just to actually be.
So, and as you said, I've been in Bali now for the past six months.
So that's definitely been a huge pivot for me to be able to have control of my own time, be where I want to be, and do what I want to do when I want to do it.
And still have that beautiful building something for myself.
As I loved having that vision of if I wanted to create something at the cafe, whether it's a new menu item or it's a new painting the walls in the cafe, to have that vision and then be able to put it into action.
The same thing here in this space now.
So I've carried that on.
Still being able to build and create this business and nurture this business as my own, has been absolutely beautiful.
But I feel like I'm doing it in a more aligned, a healthier way to suit my nervous system.
The other part of it, as you said, about moving from that linear income into a leverage income, where honestly, the sky is the limit in terms of what you can achieve in this business space.
It's just a fantastic liberating opportunity.
And Angie, I know that you mentioned that when the decision to sell came about, and you said a lot of my identity was tied up to that, and then finding yourself in the new blank space of then, what do I do now?
Like, what's next for me?
Going to the listeners that might be moms who are over 40, and who feel that it might be too late to reinvent themselves or to pivot, and feeling that maybe there's no next for me.
Maybe I'm done with all the chapters in my book, and now what's left is really just to take it easy and call it a day.
And knowing what you know about this incredible business model that is in the wellness space, in the wellness and direct sales space, right?
Knowing what you know, because you're a business woman, and you've seen numbers, you've seen different industries across the board, and I know that you have compared them.
What would you say to them about this being a powerful opportunity if they were thinking that way?
Like maybe there's nothing less for me to do, and you come in with your story and you tell them, hey, this opportunity is such a great opportunity even right now, even in the middle of you not really knowing what comes next.
What would you share with them about that?
Yeah.
Look, as I said, I stepped into this new world of social media, of building a personal brand, of sales, of all of these different things.
And as much as it was something that I didn't know much about, I felt hugely supported by what we have here.
Age is no limit.
If we're talking in life in general, age is no limit.
I was listening to Mel Robbins the other day with the Let Them Theory, and she spoke a little bit about her story.
And it wasn't until her mid to late 40s that she really started to come out of her shell and find her thing and created success, not until she was in her early to mid 50s.
And now look at her, she's just growing, and growing, and growing, and growing.
So I think she's a great, Mel Robbins is a great example that anyone can do anything at any stage of their life.
And I think it's, so I definitely, I've had those thoughts.
Wow, I'm 50 and I'm coming into this space, and I'm seeing people from all ages, from 18 year olds all the way up to, I met a lady on the weekend who was 68, and she's just joined this business and started her online journey.
And I just, I have so much admiration.
I think that we've all got a story to tell.
We've all got skills that we've, we've all got skills that we bring to the table.
And I think it's just such a great way to connect with other people and share your story and inspire others and to help and mentor each other along the way.
And I know for me, stepping into this space, I have never felt alone.
I have never felt like I couldn't reach out to someone if I didn't understand how to do something.
We've got incredible training platforms, which, you know, I just have something like that when I had the cafe, to step into a model where everything is already mapped out for you.
You've got no, none of the responsibilities that I had in that space, as in, you're not responsible for stock, you're not responsible for staff, you're not responsible for the product shipping or any of that sort of stuff.
You know, there's so much of that is removed from you.
So, it's really just focusing on your own personal journey.
And I think it's just beautiful for anyone at any stage.
Nice.
That's beautiful.
And I know you've come from that hospitality space where you wore all the hats, all the hats.
You had to learn about everything.
So, every single skill that you're bringing with you now is incredibly valuable.
And this, you know, it covers everything that you need to know in this business now, and then some.
And like you said, you're not doing it solo anymore, right?
You're not alone on this journey.
And I think that is definitely a beautiful thing that we share because we are all within the same community.
Now, you're also on a very special momentum run.
And what does that look like for you day to day?
Like, what's your, what's your mindset like as you approach this?
And you are still traveling.
Oh gosh, I see everything that you're doing at the moment.
And you're really becoming more and more of the woman you like desire to be.
And in that process, scaling your business.
And how do you keep that process so sustainable?
I'm having a lot of fun.
I honestly am.
And I think, I think that's the, you know, I'm loving learning more about myself.
I was just at a retreat on the weekend, and it's all about stepping into your new identity.
And I definitely feel like a big part of moving from the cafe owner to where I am now is just this shift in my identity and who I have rediscovered over this past 18 months.
The person that I've stepped into and become, and I'm embodying and embracing that, and having all these new experiences and meeting all these new incredible people, it's just so inspiring.
And it just fills me with so much joy and purpose and passion.
And I can't imagine a life of not having this.
It's just, I've got so much vision of what's to come.
So for me, stepping into this run to move from 4A to 6A, which is ranks within our industry, is daunting, but incredibly exciting because it means that I'm connecting with so many more women and sharing my story.
And through sharing that, inspiring other women, if I can inspire just one other person to sort of step out of their comfort zone, to step out of what's no longer serving them and feel confident, and that they can see the vision for themselves, is incredibly rewarding for me.
So to be able to be a part of that journey with them is huge for me.
And I am just hugely passionate about sharing this business model with everyone.
A big part of it is the health side of it.
These products, they're undeniable.
They will elevate your health.
And stepping into this new world and meeting incredible new people and just exploring what really is available to you when you put yourself into that mindset.
I want to add something as final remarks to what you just shared, Angie, because I love the fact that you are definitely stepping into your having fun era.
And for me, and I think also I can speak for Des, having fun is one of one of our values.
And it is so important that it is present in everything that we do, for a lot of reasons that, you know, it could take another podcast just to go over that.
But it is important to do things that light us up.
Absolutely, especially after having been on this, you know, pace of running something on your own for so long, day in and day out, with almost no breaks, right?
So there's a moment where you say, it actually needs to decompress, it needs to just feel more lighthearted and to have fun.
But I also feel, Angie, in your particular case, because I've had the pleasure, along with Desiree, to share with you in other spaces, like we have done also webinars together.
And I have seen you stepped into this arena with a beginner's mindset.
And I think that is so crucial.
And it's also so inspiring, because a lot of us can come in from the perspective of saying, oh, I've been a cafe owner, so I'm on this level now.
And nobody can teach me anything new, because I already know it all, type of perspective or a little bit of that ego.
And I feel that you have done the opposite.
Like, as Desiree mentioned, you have so many skills and so much wisdom on your side, but you're still willing to say, hey, I still don't have everything figured out over here, and I'm willing to learn, and I'm willing to ask others how they're doing it.
And I'm willing to step in with that humility of saying, yeah, here I am, I want to learn as I go through the motions.
And I think that is so vital and so important for anyone, no matter the age, but especially for us in a generation where we have quite a few decades of working experience.
It can be corporate or it can be in our own practices or businesses, but we sometimes feel like, who can teach me new tricks at this point?
But the point of the matter is that this community can, right?
This business model can, and it's so exciting to be coming from that space and learning along the way while having fun.
So we definitely want to thank you, Angie, for sharing with us today such a powerful story and pathway that has led you to this, to you being here, and for us to really drinking in from your insights and your wisdom.
And I know that our listeners are definitely going to take very, very valuable insights for themselves.
And if you want to follow Angie and connect with her even further, we are going to be sharing all your wonderful resources in our show notes.
And you can already start following Angie on her Instagram, at Angie underscored shields.
And also you are on Facebook, so we'll put all of those links in our show notes.
But most importantly, we just want to thank you for being here with us today, and for bringing in that beautiful energy that you always have, and teaching us through showcasing how you come into spaces, with those wonderful open eyes and spirits to say, I'm here to learn.
Tell me all the things.
So thank you, Angie, for being here with us today.
Like one of our mentors says, the more fun you have, the more money you make.
And so this is to us having a lot of fun together.
If you want to know what we're doing, and what is it that we're up to, and what is it that allows us to have such incredible fun, then head over to mombossesabroad.com, where you can watch a 30-minute class about what we do.
If you want to see the three of us live in action, we have just recently recorded a master class, the three of us, and come and join the fun, see what we're all about, and then we can't wait to hear from you, and see you hopefully on the other side with us at this party.
If you found value, inspiration, or a nugget of wisdom in any part of our conversation, we would be so grateful if you could take a moment to show your support.

Angie Shiels ran her own café for 12 years, believing it would be her path to freedom from working for someone else. Instead, it left her burnt out and asking, “Is this really it?” In the lead-up to turning 50, she sold the café and realised it was time to reclaim her health, create financial independence, and design life on her own terms. A chance meeting over coffee introduced her to the world of affiliate marketing - and she’s never looked back. She has spent the past six months living in Bali and, thanks to her online business, continues to mentor small business owners, entrepreneurs, and women in corporate careers who feel stuck and exhausted. Angie helps them move beyond burnout into leveraged income, legacy wealth, and a lifestyle of health, freedom, and purpose. Beyond business, Angie is a wife, a proud mum to three adult children, and this year stepped into her favourite role yet - becoming “La La” to her first grandchild.
